Overview
Indigenous peoples live in a wide range of natural environments dispersed across vast areas in North America. Some areas border the sea, others are open grasslands, and some are heavily forested. These geographical features have influenced the way people live.
Despite the discrepancies in languages and customs, many Indigenous tribes share a similar worldview. They view the world as a circle and consider the people, animals, plants, and even inanimate objects inside the circle to all be connected. Accordingly, they value a balanced life. This is ingrained in every aspect of life, including houses, clothing, pottery, and rituals.
