The Apsáalooke attached a cradle to a horse to carry their babies wherever they went. This cradle shows not only distinctive Apsáalooke features, but also influences from neighboring tribes. The style, colors, designs, and beadwork are all characteristic of the Apsáalooke active in the Great Plains region, but the flat backboard decorated at the top is more typical of tribes from the Plateau region.
