Overview
The universe as perceived by Indigenous peoples forms a circle. This perception is known as a circular worldview. They view the past, present, and future as connected through a circle. By extension, they believe that the souls of their ancestors exist alongside them in the present in a slightly different state, and they have always lived their lives with future generations in mind.
Indigenous peoples consider relationships to be important and emphasize pursuing a harmonized life in balance with all things in nature. Taking notice of subtle changes in environments, animals, and plants as part of the relationship with nature is particularly crucial. This can be also observed in their calendars describing seasonal changes.
