This vessel made by renowned Hopi potter Nampeyo features birds expressed in an abstract manner using linear lines and circles. Nampeyo fused elements of prehistoric patterns into her own compositions rather than simply fashioning them as they were. Learning to make pottery from her Hopi grandmother, she carried on the legacy of Hopi pottery. She is credited with creating new values beyond the inheritance of traditions.
