Overview
Dextra Quotskuyva was a direct descendant of the famous Hopi potter, Nampeyo. She is known for both using ancient design motifs and innovative designs of her own. She was instrumental in teaching many younger potters to carry on the tradition of Hopi pottery. Like her ancestors, Quotskuyva used natural materials to adorn her work: the black is from a plant called “bee-weed” and the red is from clay native to the area around her home.
