Overview
Larry Rosso was a Pacific Northwest artist renowned for his bentwood boxes. These boxes, crafted from solid cedar, were watertight and used for various purposes such as storage, cooking, and ceremonies. Rosso adorned the exterior of this box with an eagle design. In Kwakwaka’wakw culture, the eagle is revered as the master of the sky. It is believed that the eagle can traverse between the physical and spiritual realms, soaring to great heights, and serves as a messenger to the Creator.
