This pair of women’s moccasins and leggings, which cover the lower part of the legs, are intended to protect the wearer’s feet and legs from rough ground and branches. The artistic value of these moccasins is enhanced by the colored bands distinctive to the Apsáalooke. These bands of color help to date them to the early 1900s. The designs on Apsáalooke moccasins have changed over time from geometric forms to linear designs to floral patterns.
