This textile has diamond-shaped patterns in the center top and bottom that show a certain regularity. This is called a “Germantown” blanket because the dyed yarns used in its weaving were made in Germantown, a region of the Eastern United States, and then shipped to the Navajo reservation located in the Southwestern. Navajo weavers produced these kinds of textiles for sale to a growing tourist market.
